Daryll Hall - Park Ranger. Daryll was appointed to the Ranger’s position in August 2016. After 17 years working at the Bay of Plenty Regional Council as Senior Land Management Officer, Daryll feels very much at home in his outdoor work space.
He has always sought jobs in the outdoors. On leaving school he joined the New Zealand Navy for eight years, then went into forestry harvesting before joining the Regional Council.
The Bay of Plenty is Daryll's home, growing up in Mount Maunganui from the age of five, he attended Mount Primary and Mount College.
Bill Wheeler - Park Manager. Leaving college in 1987 to embark on a career in countryside management, Bill never expected to one day be working in the Bay of Plenty, managing one of New Zealand’s most exciting and innovative parks.
That career has never followed any kind of plan but it led to Bill being involved in building tracks, running visitor centres, fighting bush fires, selling Christmas trees and investigating wildlife crime. Then there were all the fun jobs too....
TECT Park is for Bill the fulfilment of a dream he had as a young ranger somewhere that all sports are welcome, even if they do burn a few dead dinosaurs in the process.
Emily Bykar - Park Ranger. Emily moved to the Bay of Plenty in 2009. She attended Mount College and then the University of Waikato.
Since leaving university Emily has worked various hospitality jobs, then spent a year travelling around Europe visiting as many places as she possibly could.
In January 2021 she took the first steps in her Ranger career and joined the team at TECT Park. She enjoys working outside and loves being at the Park.
